YELLOW BOX DINING TABLE

Maker’s life is a great life; It is a coffee… cakes… maybe some red wine. It’s catching ideas and translating them into one material or another…
In Making world, it’s getting deep into that world and just letting lost in that world… it’s just a dream to get in there and find things that You Love… It’s always an experiment!
In 2022 I was lucky to travel to the exotic land of Australia… I had the pleasure of constructing a large dining table for the Stamatopoulos’ Family base, a beautifully located farm in Dungog, NSW.
Material was just there waiting to be worked with – a couple of large Yellow Box Construction beams had come from a recent farm building modification. This rock-hard Yellow Box Eucalyptus wood brought a challenge leading to unexpected encounters. The people involved throughout this journey have made the object special, and is registered in it’s form.
Helen and George Stamatopoulos; without You this project wouldn’t have a chance to happen! From the depth of my heart thank you so much for Your trust and collaboration during the creative process. This special piece wouldn’t come to form without Neville Scuse, a great neighbour who facilitated the wood machining on his killer portable wood mill. A big fat shout to John from allied french polishers in Sydney who accommodated us in the workshop and took responsibility for finishing touches…
Katrina Stamatopoulos… in Your lens You capture the true nature of this object… I am forever grateful, se agapo!
I called that table Arkadiusz; which is a tribute to my Grandfather Arkadiusz Zajda who contributed the most to my adventure as a maker!
