This bench is made entirely out of transportation bearers. The aesthetic may vary, as we are using a mixture of materials that we are systematically collecting. Softwood, pine or spruce might meet a hardwood—oak, perhaps sapele or iroko. All is mixed together to achieve a gentle, eclectic form.

Bearers are often considered lower quality due to their brittleness and tendency to crack, however, we have embraced these characteristics to emphasise the story of the material, which has perhaps endured transit in travelling from afar. We use a simple idea of joinery taken into a more sophisticated form, following the logic of reducing the total volume of material we need to use to achieve strength.
